This tutorial explains how to set up OpenVPN for Android. Follow step-by-step to set up a VPN using the OpenVPN Connect Android App.
- We used the FastestVPN for this tutorial. While you can use any VPN service which offers the OpenVPN protocol.
1: Download the OpenVPN server configuration files (ovpn files) on your Android. These files will be provided by your VPN service provider. If those files are in the zip folder, then tap on the zip folder and unzip them.
2: Now download OpenVPN for Android, OpenVPN Connect App from the Play Store
3: Launch the OpenVPN Connect App and select "File".
4: Navigate to the location on your Android where you saved the config/ ovpn files. Select your desired VPN server which you want to connect to and then tap on 'Import"
5: Enter any name for your VPN connection. Enter your VPN username, then check mark "Save password" and enter your VPN password. Click on "Add" at the top right side.
6: Turn on the VPN switch
7: Tap on "Continue" and wait for a few seconds for the Android VPN connection to get established. Later, you can use the same switch to connect and disconnect the VPN on Android
