This tutorial explains how to set up OpenVPN on Linux Mint. Follow step-by-step for the Linux Mint VPN setup using the OpenVPN protocol and the network manager service.
- We used the FastestVPN for this tutorial. While you can use any VPN service which offers the OpenVPN protocol.
1: Download the OpenVPN configuration files (ovpn files) which will be provided by your VPN service provider. Unzip those files if required.
2: Open your Mint Linux network settings, and click on the "+" sign.
3: Click "Import from file"
4: Then navigate to the folder where you saved the configuration (.ovpn) files in Step 1. After that select your desired VPN server file and click "Open"
5: Enter the username and password provided by your VPN service provider and click "Add"
6: Now toggle the switch next to the Linux Mint VPN profile you just created
7: Wait for the VPN on Mint Linux to get connected. Later, you can use the network menu to connect and disconnect VPN on Mint Linux.
