This tutorial explains how to set up OpenVPN on Mac OS using the Sparklabs Viscosity Mac VPN client. Follow step-by-step to set up a Mac VPN using the Viscosity VPN client.
- We used the FastestVPN for this tutorial. While you can use any VPN service which offers the OpenVPN protocol.
1: Download the Sparklabs Viscosity VPN App from here
2: Run the downloaded file and move Viscosity to your Applications folder.
3: Click "Open"
4: Click "Install"
5: Click "Close"
6: Now download the OpenVPN configuration files (ovpn files) which will be provided by your VPN service provider. Unzip those files if required.
7: Click on the Viscosity icon on menu bar and click "Preferences"
8: Click on the + sign, then select Import Connection > From file
9: Now navigate to the folder where you saved the .ovpn configuration server files in Step 6 so they'll be imported to the Viscosity VPN client.
10: Click on your desired VPN server and click "Connect"
11: Enter the username and password provided by your VPN service provider, click "Remember" and click "OK"
12: Wait for a few seconds until the Viscosity OpenVPN on Mac is connected
Later, you can use the Viscosity VPN icon on your menu bar to connect and disconnect VPN on Mac.
