This tutorial explains how to set up OpenVPN on Windows XP. Follow step-by-step to set up Windows XP VPN using the OpenVPN protocol.
- We used the FastestVPN for this tutorial. While you can use any VPN service which supports the OpenVPN protocol.
1: Download OpenVPN GUI client for Windows XP 64-bit from this link or 32-bit from this link
2: Click on the downloaded file to run the installation.
3: Click "Next".
4: Click "I Agree".
5: Then click "Next".
6: Click "Install".
7: Click "Next".
8: Check mark "Start OpenVPN GUI" and click "Finish".
9: Now download the OpenVPN configuration files (ovpn files) which will be provided by your VPN service provider.
10: Copy your desired OpenVPN server files to C > Program Files > OpenVPN > Config folder.
11: Right click on the OpenVPN icon, and then go to your desired VPN server and click "Connect".
12: Enter the username and password provided by your VPN service provider. Click "OK".
13: Wait for the Windows XP VPN to get established.
14: Wait for a few seconds. Once connected successfully, the OpenVPN GUI icon will turn to green color.
When you need to disconnect the Windows XP OpenVPN, then do it from the OpenVPN GUI icon.
