Preventing DNS leaks is one of the prime functions of a VPN. While connected to a VPN, all the traffic including your DNS queries are supposed to pass only through the encrypted VPN tunnel.
However sometimes, especially when you are using a manual VPN setup on Windows, your DNS queries get leaked from the VPN tunnel and there, your internet service provider can detect which website you are visiting.
Step 1: Type "NCPA.CPL” on Windows search or start menu and open it.
Step 2: Now right click on your active internet connection, Ethernet or Wifi. Open its Properties.
Step 3: Doubkle click on "TCP/IPv4"
Step 4: Enable “Use the following DNS addresses". Now you can add different DNS addresses in the Preferred DNS and alternate DNS fields respectively such as:
- Google DNS: 22.214.171.124 and 126.96.36.199
- Cloudflare DNS: 188.8.131.52 and 184.108.40.206
- OpenDNS: 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168
- Quad 9 DNS: 22.214.171.124

We recommend using FastestVPN. You just need to install the FastestVPN App on your Windows and connect to your desired VPN server. FastestVPN Windows App will automatically work on its own DNS addresses and you won't require to use any 3rd party DNS addresses.
